My Wiki-Fu and own reference books have linked the concept of the Green Man and the Green Knight together so I thought it would be fun to give Arthur and company a slightly more mystical aspect. How could I not with a kick ass picture like that to use?

The Green Knight has an HQ with the Green Chapel. The exact nature of the place is nebulous, but I’ve opted to make it a break in the forest with a shattered and ruined chapel at the centre. The place is of course always covered in soft green grass and the chapel itself is completely overgrown with moss and ivy making it green as well. The isolated part represents the fact that people do not approach the area because of its reputation.

Gawain is a fun character. He’s a flawed, but utterly loyal man, and will protect Arthur to his dying breath. As part of the more fun legendary aspects of the character Gawain gets progressively stronger towards noon, and then progressively weaker as the sun sets. I’ve modelled this as Enhanced Strength during normal daylight hours and a triggered boost that happens at noon and wears off in a little better than an hour.

And here we have Galahad. The literary inspiration for the knight in shining armour. He’s the only one of Arthur’s knights that is pure enough to actually touch the Grail. Pure usually means chaste, although in Galahad’s case he’s actually without sin, so on top of being a totally badass knight he’s the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. So nice in fact that upon finding the Grail he’s taken to heaven on the spot.

Useful Tools for Mutants & Masterminds

November 15, 2010 Leave a comment

Mutants and Masterminds is a great game, but some times character creation can be a bit of a chore. Its pretty math heavy, and keeping track of all of those power points can be a bit hectic depending on what you’re trying to do. So I’ve decided to lay out some of the tools I’ve found and used to help ease that character creation process.

To start we can look at some free resources. The Yahoo! Group Hall of Heroes has two very cool options to help with character generation. The first one is an Open Office spread sheet, the other is one using Excel to acheive the same result. Both currently work with Second Edition.

For Third Edition one can look no further that the Atomic Think Tank for a character sheet/generator for DCA/MnM3.

For those willing to shell out some  cold hard cash you can get the Hero Lab from Lone Wolf Development. I like the 2nd Editon ultilities, and did buy them, 3rd Edition utilities are still in beta development.
